This Friday evening, February 21, in honor of Shabbat Mevarchin, we will invite to the bimah all those born in the coming month of Adar to receive a special blessing under the congregation’s chupah.


Lecture This Saturday Morning, February 22:

This Saturday morning, February 22 at 11:30 AM (following services and kiddush), in the framework of our Saturday morning lecture series, Har-El vice-chairman Yaacov Nof will speak (in Hebrew) on: "My Work as a Tour Guide with the Bible."
All are invited!


Educational Program for Sixth Graders from Ramat Gan:

Next Wednesday, February 26, Rabbi Ada will be a guest teacher for four 7th grade classes at the Ramat Chen school in Ramat Gan.  She will teach about “Being a Bar & Bat Mitzvah in the Reform Movement, and Equality Between the Genders.”

Purim is Coming – Invitation to Participate in the Mitzvah of “Mishloach Manot”:
As every year, mishlochei manot (Purim baskets) will be delivered to Har-El members as well as to our neighbors with limited means in the city center and Nachlaot neighborhoods. 


You can help in one (or more) of the following ways:

a) Monetary contributions to the congregation to cover the purchase of items for the baskets, packaging materials, etc.

b) Helping to pack the baskets on Sunday, March 8 at 5 PM, in the sanctuary.

c) Volunteering to deliver the Purim baskets.

Save the Date – Har-El Megillah Reading:

Har-El's reading of the megillah for Puim will be held on Tuesday evening, March 10 at 6 PM.  Please come in costume and bring food and drink for the refreshment tables.


Save the Date – Concert in Honor of Cantor Prof. Eliyahu Schleifer:

On Tuesday, March 17 at 7:30 PM a festive concert will be held in honor of the 80th birthday of Har-El member, Cantor Professor Eliyahu Schleifer.  The concert will be held at the Hebrew Union College, 13 King David Street, Jerusalem.  Among the cantors participating will be Cantor Evan.  Entrance is free and all are invited!


From This Past Shabbat and the Past Week:


This past Saturday afternoon, February 15, at a Shabbat mincha service, Adina Bluestein from Buffalo, New York was called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah.  Isaac, Adina's brother, also held his bar mitzvah here at Har-El three years ago.

On Sunday, February 16, we held our Tu Bishevat seder. The seder, led by Rabbi Ada and Cantor Evan, was held in cooperation with "Kehilat Tomechet", the Lev Ha'ir Community Center, and "Keren B'chavod" of the Reform Movement.  At the seder we welcomed elderly residents of the city center and Nachlaot, read from the Tu Bishevat haggadah created and illustrated by Har-El member, artist Hannah Yakin, sang songs of the Land of Israel, and ate Israeli fruits.


Special thanks to Har-El members Orly Shevach and Yael Tulaikova for their assistance in preparing the room for the seder.


On Monday, February 17, Rabbi Ada met here at Har-El with a group of Christian leaders from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America studying at the Swedish Theological Institute for a study session on "Women in Judaism."


On Tuesday, February 18, Rabbi Ada delivered a lecture in English to the members of the Sophie Udin Club, the English speaking branch of Na'amat.  The topic of her talk was: "Being a Reform Female Rabbi in Israel – Vision and Challenges."
