Shabbat Services This Weekend, October 1-2:

Shabbat evening service – Friday, October 1 at 6 PM, including a blessing for all those born in the coming Hebrew month of Cheshvan, in honor of Shabbat M’varchin.


Shabbat morning service – Saturday, October 2 at 9:30 AM, with the participation of Har-El member Yael Tulaikova as Torah reader and Cantor Naomi Lifshitz as the shlichat tzibur.

Following Shabbat morning services, we will hold in the synagogue a congregational gathering in memory of Har-El member Bianca Zaoui z”l (see the special announcement about this further down on the announcement page).


Services this weekend will be led by Rabbi Ada (Cantor Evan will be on vacation; see below). 


Reminder: one is obligated to wear a mask (covering one's nose and mouth) in the synagogue.

Cantor Evan Will Be on a Short Vacation:
Cantor Evan will be on a short vacation from Thursday, September 30 through Saturday, October 2, celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary.  Mazal tov to him and his wife Miri!


The English Beit Midrash Resumes, Led by Har-El Member Rabbi Helen Bar-Yaacov:

The English Bet Midrash, led by Har-El member Rabbi Helen Bar-Yaacov, is resuming its study sessions on Tuesday afternoons, beginning next Tuesday, October 5 at 4:30 PM at Kehilat Har El.  The subject will be "Journeying Through the Tanach."

All are welcome! You need to understand English to participate, but English doesn't need to be your native language.

An Invitation to a Guided Tour of the Bible Lands Museum by Har-El Member Rabbi Helen Bar-Yaacov:

All of the members of the congregation are invited to a guided tour of the Bible Lands Museum led by Har-El member Rabbi Helen Bar-Yaacov.  The subject of the tour is "The history of the peoples surrounding Israel."


The tour will be led in Hebrew and English and will be held on Wednesday, October 20.  We will meet at the entrance to the museum at 4:30 PM.


Entrance to the museum is according to the green badge (tav yarok) rules, and during the tour one must wear a mask.


The cost to enter the museum is 22 NIS for senior citizens and 44 NIS regular admission.  Payment is in cash.


In order to prepare accordingly, please let Har-El administrator Shany Shlomo know if you will be participating in the tour at 053-649-9584.


Israeli Bar Mitzvah at the Egalitarian Kotel Next Week:

On Tuesday, October 5, Shaked Sela Inbar from Jerusalem will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah at the Egalitarian Kotel.  Mazal tov to Shake


Congregational Gathering in Memory of Har-El Member Bianca Zaoui z”l at Kehilat Har-El, This Saturday, October 2:

Long-time dedicated member Bianca Zaoui, widow of Rabbi Andre Shalom Zaoui z”l, passed away on the eve of Shmini Atzeret, September 27, at the Shaarei Tzedek hospital.  Her funeral was held on Wednesday, September 29.


We invite all her friends and those who cherish Bianca’s memory to a gathering in her memory that will be held at Kehilat Har-El this coming Saturday, October 2, following Shabbat morning services (around 11:30-11:45 AM).
